Cheng Bijin

Fierce Blood Axe

Overview

Compared to the achievements of mighty warriors, he is more renowned as the "Guardian God of the Weak People of the Empire." With a physique that's anything but muscular and an emotional streak that often has him tearing up, he has a peculiar fondness for quick changes in attire. In Chang'an, even young children stop crying upon hearing the name Zhang Biejiu and beg their grandmothers to tell them more of his legends. Zhang Biejiu feels deep sympathy for the weak. In his youth, it wasn't violence that captivated him but a peaceful, natural way of life. He believed that exceptional martial arts skills and muscular physiques should be used to challenge nature, not each other. One day, a traveler arrived in the village where he lived. No matter how fast he ran, jumped, or displayed his extraordinary strength, the traveler always kept up. As the sun set, they had become friends. But the next day, a gang of thugs invaded the village, seeking the legendary White Tiger. Amidst flames and thick smoke, women and children cried out in pain. Zhang Biejiu was furious. "If there are dark corners in this world where sunlight never reaches, let my muscles and sweat shine there!" The thugs fled before his mighty axe. But they soon returned, more organized and formidable. The traveler stood up. Zhang Biejiu witnessed for the first time a power stronger than muscles and force—that of strategy. Together, they defeated the thugs. When the traveler was about to leave, Zhang Biejiu made a request: "Martial arts alone cannot protect our homeland. True peace comes only when sunlight touches every corner." Fifteen years have passed since then, and Zhang Biejiu has become a legendary general with countless victories. After Empress Wu Zetian ascended to the throne, impatient with Zhang Biejiu's adherence to strict attendance rules, he went into hiding under a false name while secretly patrolling the continent. He accepted an invitation from the traveler, now General Li Jing, to visit the north and quickly sensed something unusual about An Lushan's movements through his animal-like intuition. The glow of muscles and sweat is about to shine once more. "One word: Act!"
